We’re happy to announce that Solo Stove has come aboard as an advertiser here!

Solo Stove offers a lightweight wood-burning cookstove suitable for backpacking. This would be a great item for anyone’s Bug-out Bag or Kit.

Visit their site when you get the chance for more information and video demos:   http://www.solostove.com/

Every once in awhile I catch a decent article over at the SurvivalBlog site. The Survival Garden  article posted the other day did a good job of explaining the space requirements necessary to grow a year’s supply of vegetables. The article makes a few claims that are a bit inaccurate but the author does expose the need to learn how to efficiently produce whatever vegetables you can. I also think that he unintentionally highlighted the importance of learning to forage.

The drought conditions have been eased in our region. Over the last couple of weeks we’ve seen some substantial rain and I’m not seeing any empty farm fields in the Southern MI / Northern IN area. I checked the news this morning for any confirmation of this but can still only find bad news about the US corn harvest. The soybeans look pretty good right now also. As usual, please be wary of any advertisements claiming drought related US food shortages.
